Subject:

Illegal activity going on  in Calicut Airport Parking Area

Greetings,

I am KM Basheer, President of the Malabar Development Forum (MDF) a non profit organisation that works towards the development of the malabar region.

Our organisation fights for the people and gives them the justice they deserve. During this vigilance week I would like to bring to your attention a huge financial scam that goes on in the paid parking area of Calicut International Airport.

For the last few months various customers who parked their cars in the parking area were approached by the goons of the parking area to pay more than the required parking fees. I submitted a few of these reports with proof to the Airport Director but nothing was done to correct this issue aside from providing refunds of the excess cash stolen and no further action was taken to completely stop this illegal activity.

On November 3rd at around 12:58 am I entered the car parking and was given the entry coupon 00585003112022. My Innova Crysta (KL11-BV-4050) was parked there for around 1 hour and at around 2:09 am I gave my entry coupon and normally when you give them the entry coupon they discard it so that theres no proof of them overcharging their customers. But I had scanned a copy of the parking ticket so I was only liable to pay 55 rupees as per the Airport Authority of India guidelines, however they requested I pay 120 rupees (Payment reciept no.02092103112022). This money was collected the same way from everyone else as well.

Various passengers and customers have complained about this alot of times but the Airport Director S.Suresh is not taking any serious action to fix this aside from providing refunds only when the passengers or customer make a request for it. This would indicate that the Director himself may be supporting this illegal behaviour. The Airport Authority of India is a very large and reputable organisation in India so why are they not stop this type of illegal activity?

I even requested the director to arrange a meeting to discuss this issue but to no avail. Everyday hundreds of cars park their cars in the Calicut Airport Parking area and thousands of people were already scammed aside from a handful of people who decided to standup to this criminal activity.

Its ironic that Calicut Airport is celebrating Vigilance Week, a week dedicated to stopping illegal activity while many people who parked their cars in that very airport have been victims of the illegal activity that goes on in the airport.

So I am ready to provide all the necessary documents in addition to the documents I have already attached as well as the necessary witnesses whenever you decide to conduct a formal enquiry on the airport as well as the lazy Airport Director S.Suresh. Please make sure this never happens again. I await your invitation to the formal enquiry on this matter. Thank you for your time.
