Sub: Illegal Hoardings across Bangalore City

Dear Hon’ble Justice Subash B Adi,

Greetings from B.PAC ! B.PAC (Bangalore Political Action Committee), a nonpartisan “not for profit” citizen’s group that aims at strengthening the democratic process through better governance, transparency and greater citizens’ engagement with the political & administrative leadership. Our objective should be to make Bangalore one of the best governed cities in the country and our initiatives should be a model for all other cities to emulate.

The city has seen gross violation of provision of THE KARNATAKA OPEN PLACES (PREVENTION OF DISFIGUREMENT) ACT, 1981 with severe defacing of the city with illegal hoardings. In this process BBMP is losing out on advertisement tax. This is not only defacing the beauty of city, it is also in violation of high court order & BBMP guidelines for permissions to be taken for putting up hoardings & your direction to commissioner, BBMP to take strict action on perpetrators of this menace.

B.PAC team conducted a day long visit across the city covering following 15 locations and identified more than 150 unregistered hoardings.

Sl# Name of the Location

1 Goripalya, Telecom Layout Vijayanagar

2 Vijayanagara Bus stand & Maruti mandira, Vijayanagara Dept & Attiguppe

3 Nayandahalli & Veerabhadra nagara Mysore Road

4 Near Hosakerehalli, Janata bazar

5 Near Kattriguppe & Devegowda Petrol pump

6 Banaskankari

7 Jayanagara

8 Dairy Circle

9 Koranamgala

10 Old Airport Road

11 Domlur Layout

12 Marathalli Bridge

13 Ring Road, Mahadevapura, Old Madras Road

14 Kasturinagara, Ramamurthy nagara, Horamavu, Kalayannagara, Hennur Main Road

15 Cox town, Frazer town, Cantonment East, Lingarajapuram, Bamboo bazar & Shivajinagara

We are providing proof of the same via enclosed copy. We urge you to take notice of this complaint & direct the officials to take strict actions against those who are placing illegal hoardings across Bangalore City.

Thank you

Yours Sincerely
