New Delhi: The Delhi government is soon going to launch a training program for skill development of the disabled, so that a large number of disabled people of Delhi can be empowered by taking advantage of it. Working in this direction, Delhi Social Welfare Minister Raj Kumar Anand held a review meeting with the officials of the department on Tuesday and took several important decisions. Taking an important step towards empowering the disabled people in Delhi, the Social Welfare Minister directed to start skill development programs according to the needs of the disabled people as soon as possible. Now very soon the disabled people will get training by participating in the skill development program in skill development centers in Delhi, which will enable them to get better employment opportunities in the future. Along with this, Social Welfare Minister Raj Kumar Anand has also instructed to organize general disability camps and awareness camps in all districts. Along with the rehabilitation of disabled people, it will be ensured to provide facilities to them and they will be made aware of the schemes and facilities of the government. The Delhi government under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is working towards making the disabled people of Delhi skilled.
Delhi govt to launch skill development programme for differently-abled soon
On Tuesday, Delhi Social Welfare Minister Raj Kumar Anand held a review meeting with the officials of the department to ensure that all differently-abled people get the benefit of the ongoing schemes for the disabled in Delhi. Taking an important step towards empowering the disabled, the Social Welfare Minister directed the officials to start skill development programs according to the needs of the disabled people. He said that the Delhi government will provide trainers in the existing skill development centers and production centers in Delhi through public-private partnership and will start the system of training as soon as possible. This will enable the re-operation of these centers and disabled people will be able to take advantage of it. Under this program, people with disabilities will be provided training by trainers as per their needs so that they can find better employment opportunities for themselves in the future and become empowered.

Social Welfare Minister Raj Kumar Anand said that soon awareness camps will be organized by the government in all the districts from Delhi. Where disabled people will be made aware of the government's schemes, facilities. Along with this, they will be informed about the special programs being run by the Delhi government for the education and training of disabled people and the employment opportunities associated with them. The Social Welfare Minister has instructed the officers of the department to work in this direction soon and take appropriate steps.
*Visually impaired students will get the benefit*
New Delhi: Delhi government hostels for visually impaired girl students will soon be provided staff to run the facility. In the review meeting, Social Welfare Minister Raj Kumar Anand directed the officials to ensure the availability of staff in these hostels by getting services from external sources and appropriate steps should be taken in this direction.
Leprosy patients will soon get flats
In the meeting, it was decided to allot flats to leprosy patients soon to benefit them. Social Welfare Minister Raj Kumar Anand has directed the officials to take appropriate steps in this direction to provide immediate relief to leprosy patients. It is noteworthy that the Social Welfare Department is to allot flats to leprosy patients in Delhi, for which applications have also been received from the Delhi Government. Now soon the applicants will get the benefit of this.
*Social welfare offices to be made accessible for differently-abled people
The Social Welfare Minister has directed all the District Social Welfare Offices of Delhi to take appropriate steps to make it accessible to persons with disabilities. Digital displays of token numbers will soon be installed in these offices for the convenience of the people, so that common people coming to the office for pension-related work will not have to face trouble. Along with this, proper arrangements will be made for people's seating and clean water.
It was also decided in the meeting that the department will soon appoint members of maintenance tribunals for senior citizens in all districts.
