The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights over the treatment of minor children involved in alleged crimes by the authorities of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
This notice has been issued on the miscellaneous application of Amicus Curiae Arpana Bhat in the case 'Exploitation of Children in Orphanages in State of Tamil Nadu vs Government of India' related to the exploitation of children in orphanages in Tamil Nadu, in which she has filed a complaint against minors in police stations by Uttar Pradesh and Delhi Police. The court's attention has been drawn to the alleged detention and torture of the accused.
