3. The National Highways The authority competent to remove Authority of India Act, the unauthorised advertisement 1988 boards is the Chairman appointed by W.P(C)s. 5218/12,30266/12, the Central Government by notification in the Official Gazette.

4. Kerala Highway Protection Under Section 4 of the Act, the Act, 1999 Executive Engineer (Roads) or Executive Engineer (National Highways) of the Public Works Department is the highway authority of the respective area. They are the competent authorities to remove the unauthorised advertisements.

The respective Chief Engineers of the State PWD, by notification, authorise the Executive Engineers for the upkeep and maintenance of the Highway, under their control.
