 The Madras High Court set aside the notification issued by the Registrar, NCLT, making it mandatory for lawyers appearing before any bench of the NCLT to wear gowns.

 

 A division bench of Justice K Ravichandrababu (retired) and Justice TS Sivagnanam had earlier ordered an interim stay on the operation of the order, observing that it was contrary to the Bar Council of India rules, which mandated the wearing of gowns.  Is.  Lawyers can wear gowns only when he/she is appearing in the Supreme Court or High Court.
