joint families

32. In the case of a family governed by the Marumakkathayam Law, a junior member who is a Govermnent servant will not ordinarily be required to obtain sanction when immovable property is acquired by the managing member on behalf of the family. But this exception will not apply to any acquisition even though made in the name of the Karanavan, if it is shown that it is really intended to be the self-acquired property of the Govermnent servant.
