 FUNCTIONS AND POWERS OF THE PRESIDENT

*All type of Emergencies are declared by the President of India

*Every Bill passed by the Parliament will become an Act only after getting the assent from the President

*The President has the power to dissolve the Lok Sabha

*12 members of the Rajya Sabha are nominated by the President of India Two members from the Anglo Indian Community are nominated by the President of India

*Joint Session of the Parliament is summoned by the President

*If the Parliament is not in session, the President can issue Ordinance

*Budget is presented in the Parliament in the name of the President

*The President can declare war only after getting the advice from the Parliament

*Prior sanction should be obtained from the President before presenting a Bill for the creation of a State

*The following personnel are appointed by the President of India
i)Judges of the Supreme Court and the High Court
ii)Governor of the States
iii)CAG
iv)Attorney General of India
v)Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners
Vi)Chairman and members of the UPSC
vii)Chairman and Members of the Finance Commission
viii)Members of All India Service
ix)Administrators of the Union Territories
x)Chief of the Army, Navy and Air Force
