Are the documents submitted by customers to get electricity for electricity companies personal information?
The Karnataka Information Commission has issued several orders stating that all documents submitted by customers to get electricity connections to electrical companies are public records and documents to be submitted under information claim. Yet to this day some public information officials deny customer submitted documents to get electricity as personal information or information related to third person.
Customers will have to submit verdict, donation, division sheet related to property ownership to obtain electricity. In addition, the Sadari property account confirmation letter, sanction map and revenue receipt will have to be submitted. The courts have also considered that all documents related to property ownership were public records. In this background, all documents related to property ownership will be submitted when applied under information and asked. Yet to this day, denying information related to property ownership is a clear violation of Right to Information Act.
Mr. A citizen named Sunil Kumar is Assistant Executive, S. 16 subdivision, BESCOM, Bangalore had submitted application under Right of Information on 24.03.2022 and asked for the following information:

The Public Information Officer submitted the first appeal on 13.04.2022 as he did not provide any information. Even the First Appeal Authority submitted second appeal to the Information Commission on 27.06.2022 as it failed to provide information.

By following this order, we need to work so that such cases should not be repeated.
