Effect of Dioxine
It is very difficult to identify contamination of food and air by dioxines. It is because the real effect is not short term and it does not have any strong taste or smell. it generally is dispersed and attached to soil and dust particles and is invisible to the eye. Dioxin can get into drinking water from: Air emissions from waste incineration and other combustion, with subsequent deposition to lakes and reservoirs, Deposition from air to soils that erode into surface waters used for drinking water
they are persistent environmental pollutants (POPs). that means, they will remain in the environment for years. It enters your food and stay deposited in fat tissues animals, including humans. When humans eat food having dioxines, it will again get added and make you sick in the long run.
Dioxins are highly toxic and can cause reproductive and developmental problems, damage the immune system, interfere with hormones and also cause cancer. Once dioxins enter the body, they last a long time because of their chemical stability and their ability to be absorbed by fat tissue, where they are then stored in the body. Their half-life in the body is estimated to be 7 to 11 years. In the environment, dioxins tend to accumulate in the food chain. The higher an animal is in the food chain, the higher the concentration of dioxins.
