Holding or acquiring of immovable property.—No Government servant shall, save in good faith for the purpose of residence, acquire any immovable property anywhere in India by purchase or gift with the previous sanction of Government. Sanction will, on no account be accorded to the purchase of land for commercial purposes in any part of the Kerala State by a person employed or concerned in the collection of revenue or the administration of justice. The restrictions on the acquisition and possession of immovable property apply to the acquisition and possession of any personal interest in such property and to the acquisition and possession of such property by a Government servant in the name of any other person, but not to the acquisition or possession of an interest as trustee, executor or administrator only. A Government servant who already owns a house or site, may not acquire another house or site for residential purposes without the sanction of Government or the authority to whom the power of sanction has been delegated.
